Coming to Jaipur for Medical Treatment? A Stay Guide for Outstation Families
By Royal City Guest House · Updated July 2026 · 6 min read
Every week, families from Kota, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Alwar, Sikar, Tonk and smaller towns across Rajasthan travel to Jaipur for treatment the local hospital can't provide — heart procedures, cancer care, major surgery. If that's your family this month, this guide covers the part the hospital won't tell you: how to organise the trip, where to stay, and what it should cost.
Jaipur's Hospital Cluster — Know Where You're Going
Most of the major private hospitals patients travel to sit in south Jaipur, on or near JLN Marg beside Malviya Nagar:
- Fortis Escorts Hospital — JLN Marg. Multi-speciality, cardiac care.
- EHCC / Eternal Hospital — near Jawahar Circle. Heart centre grown into multi-speciality.
- Bhagwan Mahaveer Cancer Hospital (BMCHRC) — JLN Marg. Rajasthan's dedicated cancer hospital.
- Rajasthan Hospital — JLN Marg, opposite World Trade Park.
- Apex Hospitals — inside Malviya Nagar.
- Rukmani Birla (CK Birla) Hospital — Gopalpura Bypass, 10–12 minutes away.
This matters for one simple reason: stay in Malviya Nagar and you're next to all of them. Referrals between hospitals, second opinions, a scan at one and surgery at another — families do this constantly, and a Malviya Nagar base means never re-planning accommodation.
Reaching the Hospital Area
To Malviya Nagar / JLN Marg hospitals
By trainDurgapura stn ~10 min · Jaipur Junction ~25–35 min
By bus (Sindhi Camp)~25–35 min by auto/cab
By airJaipur Airport ~10–15 min
By carNH52 from Kota side / NH48 · free parking at guest house
- From Kota: trains toward Jaipur mostly stop at Durgapura — check yours; by road it's ~4–5 hours via NH52. Get down at Durgapura, not Jaipur Junction, and save half an hour with a tired patient.
- From Jodhpur / Bikaner: trains arrive at Jaipur Junction; buses at Sindhi Camp. From either, an auto/cab to Malviya Nagar is 25–35 minutes.
- From Alwar / Sikar side: buses to Sindhi Camp are frequent; by car, ring road routes avoid the old city traffic.
Flying In From Outside Rajasthan
Jaipur's private hospitals don't only pull patients from within the state — families increasingly fly in from Mumbai, Thane, Nashik, Guwahati, Meerut and other cities for treatment at Fortis, EHCC and Mahaveer Cancer Hospital that isn't available or has a long wait closer to home. If that's you, the trip is simpler than the road/rail routes above: Jaipur International Airport is about 2 km from the Malviya Nagar hospital cluster, under 10 minutes by cab, and inside the same zone as the hospitals themselves.
- Land, then a short cab ride. No transfer across the city — the airport, the hospitals and Malviya Nagar guest houses all sit close together in south Jaipur.
- Book your first night before you fly. Same rule as families arriving by train or bus: confirm a room over WhatsApp before departure so there's no scramble after a long flight with a patient.
- Coming for a scheduled admission the next morning? Fly in the evening before rather than the same day — admissions and paperwork take longer than expected, and you don't want to do that off a red-eye.

Book Your Stay Before You Travel — Not After
The classic mistake: the family arrives at 9pm with a patient, then starts asking autowallahs about rooms. You end up overpaying for whatever's nearest, or dragging luggage between full hotels. Do it in this order instead:
- Fix the hospital date (admission, OPD appointment, or scan slot).
- WhatsApp a guest house near the hospital the same day. Send your dates, number of people, and say it's a medical stay — ask for the medical rate.
- Get the room confirmed in writing (a WhatsApp reply is enough) with the rate and check-in time.
- Save the guest house number — if the train is late or admission shifts a day, one message fixes it. A 24-hour front desk means a midnight arrival is fine.
Budgeting the Attendant Stay
Hospital bills are unpredictable; the attendant stay doesn't have to be. Realistic numbers for Malviya Nagar:
- Room: clean AC guest house rooms from ₹999/night (avoid both the ₹400 dharamshala-quality rooms far from the gate, and ₹2,500+ hotels whose facilities you'll never use).
- Food: home-style thali-type meals from ₹80 — an on-site restaurant saves both money and the daily "where do we eat" problem.
- Local travel: autos within Malviya Nagar run ₹30–80 a hop; staying walkable to your hospital can cut this to zero.
- Multi-week treatment: always ask for a 4+ night or weekly rate — over a chemo or radiation course the discount adds up to real money.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which area of Jaipur should we stay in for hospital treatment?
Malviya Nagar — Fortis Escorts and EHCC are walkable, and Bhagwan Mahaveer, Rajasthan Hospital and Apex are all a 10-minute ride, with markets and pharmacies around.
Should we book a room before travelling?
Yes — WhatsApp your dates to +91 98282 62992 once the hospital date is fixed. You'll get the room and medical rate confirmed in writing before you leave home.
We arrive by train late at night. Is check-in possible?
Yes — Royal City Guest House has a 24-hour front desk. Tell us your train, and a late arrival is no problem.
What should an attendant stay cost per day?
Around ₹1,100–1,300 all-in per person is realistic in Malviya Nagar: AC room from ₹999 plus meals from ₹80. Ask for the 4+ night medical rate to bring it lower on long stays.
The patient is at one hospital but tests are at another. Does the location work?
Yes — that's the point of staying in Malviya Nagar. The whole JLN Marg hospital cluster is within a few minutes of the guest house, so cross-hospital referrals don't force you to move.
We're flying in from Mumbai, Guwahati or another city outside Rajasthan — where should we stay?
Jaipur Airport is about 2 km from the Malviya Nagar hospital cluster — under 10 minutes by cab, in the same zone as Fortis Escorts, EHCC and Mahaveer Cancer Hospital. Land, take a short cab ride, and you're at the guest house or hospital within half an hour.
