Jaipur Travel Guide
🏛️ Royal City Guest House is the only hotel in Jaipur where select rooms have private balconies with a direct view of Patrika Gate — one of the city's most photographed landmarks.
Patrika Gate is one of Jaipur's most iconic landmarks — a grand nine-arch gateway on Jawahar Circle, decorated with intricate murals depicting Rajasthani heritage, art, and the nine editions of the Patrika newspaper. It was inaugurated in 2016 and has since become one of the most visited and photographed spots in the city, particularly at sunset and during festivals when it is illuminated.
If you want to stay within walking distance of Patrika Gate — or actually look out at it from your room — there is exactly one hotel in Jaipur that offers this: Royal City Guest House.
Call to specifically request a balcony room overlooking Patrika Gate. Subject to availability.
Patrika Gate stands at the northern entrance of Jawahar Circle garden — the largest circular park in Asia. The gate is 30 metres high and features nine arches, each decorated with detailed Rajasthani frescoes and painted ceilings. The artwork depicts the history of Rajasthan through murals in the style of traditional Rajput painting.
The gate is especially beautiful at sunrise (when morning light hits the painted arches) and at sunset. It is fully illuminated after dark and draws large crowds during Diwali, Holi, and city festivals.
Select Deluxe Rooms at Royal City Guest House have private balconies from which guests can look directly towards Patrika Gate. You can watch the morning light hit the painted arches, see the gate lit up at night, and take your own photographs without jostling in a crowd — just from your room. No other hotel in Jaipur is positioned to offer this.
Patrika Gate is busy and worth visiting more than once: early morning for photography when it's quiet, during the day with children, and at night when it's illuminated. Being 5 minutes' walk means you can drop in casually rather than planning a dedicated trip. Jawahar Circle park — where locals come for morning walks — is equally accessible.
Royal City Guest House is in Malviya Nagar, one of south Jaipur's main residential and commercial neighbourhoods. From here you can reach Amber Fort in 20 minutes, Hawa Mahal in 20–25 minutes, City Palace in 25 minutes, and Jal Mahal in 15 minutes. It's a quiet base without being far from anything.
Royal City Guest House is at 8/270, Jawahar Circle, behind Union Bank, Malviya Nagar, Jaipur 302017. From Patrika Gate: walk south along Jawahar Circle for approximately 5 minutes. The guest house is behind Union Bank of India on Jawahar Circle.
